Tony and Julia met in June 2004
while riding in the foothills of Wineglass Mountain. Their friendship grew as
they rode together every evening. By the end of August they were engaged. Their shared passion
for horses and hunting help keep the couple enjoying the lifestyle of Montana.
They are usually found riding the hills of Montana or trailering to a
backcountry trailhead for a weekend of camping and riding.
Tony grew up in southern Ohio. When he was seven years old, Tony went to work for an outdoor live
theatrical production. His days at Blue Jacket

would shape the rest of his life. He went from portraying young children at the
start of his career to being the lead for the equestrian department. Tony was
responsible for training both horses and riders for the demanding scenes. The
production required that riders come in at a full gallop bareback shooting
flaming arrows from their mounts. It took finding the right horses and countless
hours of training to have a herd of horses who didn't spook at gunfire, cannon
explosions or flames. Tony studied horseshoeing under the guidance and
experience of the Amish for several years. Being able to learn from
their age old traditional methods and applying current techniques
make Tony a well sought after farrier. He specializes in corrective
shoeing.
Julia is originally from central
Indiana. Her passion for horses was fueled
as a child with Breyer
models. Her mother put her in riding lessons but suburban life didn't give her
the experience that she was looking for. While attending Indiana University,
Julia joined her sister on the Hoosier Equestrian Team. Her first year showing she
placed fourth at Zones (semi-nationals). The continued sprawl of towns
eventually led Julia to seek bigger country in the Rocky Mountains. On a road
trip in 2001, Julia traveled through her new hometown. It wasn't until 2003 when
she graduated from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business that she was
able to pack up and move to Montana. Julia brings several years of showing to
Caruana Professional Equine Services in English and Western. She has shown
Equitation, Fences and Reining.
